All of our courses are taught in our fully equipped woodworking and furniture studio located in Royersford, PA (about 30 miles outside of Philadelphia). Whether you’ve just started woodworking and carpentry as a hobby, or you’ve spent years honing your craft, we have the tools, experience and expertise to help you fine tune your skills.

Boxology
This 2-day class will demonstrate the building of small boxes using techniques that can be applied to various box designs as well as larger scale projects.

Chair Construction
Starting with an Arts and Crafts chair we will discuss measurements for standard chairs as well as angles & curves for chair backs.

Router & Table Saw Basics
This is a 1-day class where we will go over the use of the router and explain the ins and outs, demonstrating the standard basic router along with the plunge router and one handed trim or laminate router. You will get a chance to use all of the router types as well as using the router in a router table. We’ll go over the various types of router bits explaining their plusses and minuses.

Working with Jigs
As you start getting into woodworking you will find that some simple jigs can add speed and accuracy to your work. In this class we will demonstrate the construction of numerous woodworking jigs and simplistic methods of construction.

Bench with through Tenon Joinery
Geared towards beginners, this class covers woodworking basics: buying and preparing wood, understanding seasonal movement, power tools (hand and stationary), shop space/equipment, types of joints, layout tools, hand planes vs. sanders, and finishing.

Small Table Construction

End Table with Door and Drawer
Build a cabinet, complete with paneled sides, a drawer and door in this conclusion to our furniture and cabinetmaking series.

Kitchen Cabinet Construction
Don’t be afraid to tackle that big home improvement project! Learn how to build a 30″ kitchen cabinet in this woodworking course.

Spray Finishing & Hand Applied Finishes
Learn everything you need to know about finishing your completed projects. We give an overview of wood finishing techniques from hand rubbed finishes to spraying lacquers and polyurethanes.

Mostly Hand Tools
On this 1 day class we will show the best choices for planes, chisels, and dovetail saws, as well as power sharpening devices and water stones. We will demonstrate how to properly sharpen chisels and plane irons and keep them sharp. You will learn how power sharpening devices and water stones can co-exist. We will use Japanese saws and demonstrate between Japanese and Western tools.
